STEVE CROWHURST, CTC

From mountain climbing to white-water kayaking to starting a business from the ground up, Steve Crowhurst is no stranger to “smart risks,” goal setting and maintaining focus.

Always an adventurer Steve was mountain climbing, kayaking white-water and hiking the trails of his native England from the age of fourteen. By the age of nineteen he had worked his passage around the world by ship. To date he has travelled to 30 countries, sailed 19 seas and visited over 80 places / cities. His overseas training assignments have taken him to China, Spain, Egypt, U.K., and Bosnia.

With extensive experience in the travel industry, Steve knows the ins and outs of todays often turbulant industry & workplace. He puts his first-hand knowledge to use designing and delivering targeted results-oriented programs that specifically address the needs of management, staff and customer.

His dynamic, high-energy, entertaining, informative presentations are packed with up-to-the-minute ideas, strategies and advice. He incorporates personal anecdotes, plenty of humour and his own unique brand of travel trade business smarts.

Steve has been training and developing people since 1983. He focuses on guiding travel & tourism professionals in the areas of creativity, leadership, team building, sales, e-marketing, new business development and time management. His mission is to “make good things happen for other people” and he does just that.

During his workshops and consulting activities Steve draws on his past experience in management, as an entrepreneur and business owner. He has owned and operated his own travel agency, travel accessory store and travel management consulting firm.

In addition he was an agency manager for Thomas Cook, Sears Travel and Atlas Travel; Regional Vice President, Western Canada with global franchisor Uniglobe International; Director of Training & Development for Uniglobe Western Canada; Vice President and General Manager for a private vocational tourism training school. He was a co-founder of Idea Link Japan and founder of The Idea Place, Travel Training Adventures, Management Training Adventures and SMP.

He has volunteered his time to CITC Canada and the local chapter of PATA; maintains a professional art career and writes a monthly sales column for Canadian Traveller magazine. As of August 2003 he is the contracted trainer to ACT-Right Training and delivers the POWER-90 workshop and Agency Owner/Managers workshop prior to each Addison Travel Trade Show.

More recently Steve has conducted a series of very effective and well-received Tele-Seminars for CITC.
