mountain climbing to white-water kayaking to starting a business
from the ground up, Steve Crowhurst is no stranger to “smart
risks,” goal setting and maintaining focus. Always
an adventurer Steve was mountain climbing, kayaking white-water
and hiking the trails of his native England from the age of
fourteen. By the age of nineteen he had worked his passage
around the world by ship. To date he has travelled to 30 countries,
sailed 19 seas and visited over 80 places / cities. His overseas
training assignments have taken him to China, Spain, Egypt,
U.K., and Bosnia.
With
extensive experience in the travel industry, Steve knows the
ins and outs of todays often turbulant industry & workplace.
He puts his first-hand knowledge to use designing and delivering
targeted results-oriented programs that specifically address
the needs of management, staff and customer.
His
dynamic, high-energy, entertaining, informative presentations
are packed with up-to-the-minute ideas, strategies and advice.
He incorporates personal anecdotes, plenty of humour and his
own unique brand of travel trade business smarts.
Steve
has been training and developing people since 1983. He focuses
on guiding travel & tourism professionals in the areas
of creativity, leadership, team building, sales, e-marketing,
new business development and time management. His mission
is to “make good things happen for other people”
and he does just that.
During
his workshops and consulting activities Steve draws on his
past experience in management, as an entrepreneur and business
owner. He has owned and operated his own travel agency, travel
accessory store and travel management consulting firm.
In
addition he was an agency manager for Thomas Cook, Sears Travel
and Atlas Travel; Regional Vice President, Western Canada
with global franchisor Uniglobe International; Director of
Training & Development for Uniglobe Western Canada; Vice
President and General Manager for a private vocational tourism
training school. He was a co-founder of Idea Link Japan and
founder of The Idea Place, Travel Training Adventures, Management
Training Adventures and SMP.
He
has volunteered his time to CITC Canada and the local chapter
of PATA; maintains a professional art career and writes a
monthly sales column for Canadian Traveller magazine. As of
August 2003 he is the contracted trainer to ACT-Right Training
and delivers the POWER-90 workshop and Agency Owner/Managers
workshop prior to each Addison Travel Trade Show.
More
recently Steve has conducted a series of very effective and
well-received Tele-Seminars for CITC.
